Sun, fun and 2 smoking kit car shows
Posted by Madabout News on Friday, April 20th, 2007 at 10:53 PM |
The DJ Sportscars open day and the Detling kit car show fell within a week of each other and kicked off the 2007 kit car season in style.
As always seems to be the case DJ ordered the weather for their open day on Easter Friday and it brought out plenty of Tojeiro and Rush owners to show off their pride and joys. The day also saw a bit of a rarity in the form of a Dax Kamala.
As well as the chance to have a nosey round the DJ factory they also laid on some grub and refreshments as well as their demo cars. Pride of place was a Bell jet ranger turbine powered Rush which attracted much curiosity and attention.

A week later was the Detling kit car show weekend, again blessed with fantastic weather (god bless global warming!) and a great turnout on both days (Sunday was busier).
This show has a great club atmosphere with the majority of what to see being outside. The Kent kit car club having a large contingent as usual with a varied display of cars from an Alfa single seater replica to a Lamborghini Diablo clone.
Judging from the attention and smiles, I’d imagine the most photographed car was the purple Nova with pink fur interior, my daughters loved it and to be honest it was well executed. Don’t you just love kit cars, you can do exactly what you want with them.
Big smiles all round for this Nova.

 Big turnout on both days
In the halls there were around 30 manufacturers displaying their current line ups, the pick of the displays would probably have to go to Deauville Cars who laid on a large display showing off their complete model range including their new Rondo. The rear hall had the usual tool and craft stalls but Invicta Rodsters brought out the kid in just about every adult male that walked past with their fantastic model drag strip and their sooped up cars and trucks, wow they were quick!
What a great show opener Detling was, helped by great weather and a great turnout of owners and enthusiasts with a diverse selection of cars. Roll on Stoneleigh.
