Hi All,
I've just got to the stage of fitting coolant pipes down the centre tunnel and after reading posts on this forum alot of you have decided not to use the plastic hep20 pipe as supplied by Marlin. My question is has anyone used this pipe as supplied and if so has there been any problems. I want to try and keep the costs down so I don't really want to start buying different hose or pipes.

Hi Mike

The pipe Marlin supply doesn’t look much but as long as you fit the clips correctly then you should be fine. As we are racing we were looking to fit the Sparco Race Hose, which is not cheap so we decided for now we would just use the kit provided. Mark, Dylon and Adis all race with this pipe and I now for a fact that Mark has never blown a pipe and his engine has overheated many times. The best way is to fit 2 clips on the rubber water hose were it fits to the plastic pipe to secure it. (pics on build section may help) Once hot water is running around the car and it all settles down then you will come across the odd leak her and there to begin with but you just need to keep an eye on them.

Hi Mike.

I've used the plastic pipes on the turbo build and has been fine. If your worried, the Whick Kit build series "belled" the ends. Then you connect the pipe the other of it to secure it. Can't remember how he did it. I will try and dig out the article.

Thanks guys. Just wanted to put my mind at rest before fitting the pipes. Will double clip the joints for safety.

P.s Jon I notice you're from Swindon i'm just down the road in Wootton Bassett nice to know that there is another builder close by. How close are you to completing you car and have you got a race schedule for this year.

Never realised you were so close, at present the car is with marlin, because of the amount of development work we have done to the car they asked if they could have a look at it and see if they could make up a few pieces to fit to existing exi's, they are also wiring the whole car and fitting the body, which turned up on friday. Once the car comes back we are hoping to have it finished and running, so we can have a small play on a private road by mid to end of may and then have the body mods finished for Llandow in July. All depends on money.But the real aim for myself is to have it completed within 1 year so not too difficult. All i can say is that 2007 is a test season set up and learning the limits, 2008 is a full race season along with 2009, we may do 1 or 2 races at the end of the season just to get used to the race starts etc.

Hi Mike.

One bit of advise. When your piping up, make sure the rubber pipe is not to big and snug on the plastic pipe. I would also get someone to pressure check the system once it's all done.
