Side panels

26 Feb 2007, 12:20pm
Hi All,
Hope to fit the side panels this week and was wondering if anyone has devised a cunning plan to allow the inner wheel arch on the passenger side to clear the heater blower. Looking at the build manual they seem to have just hammered the panel to make a bulge but this looks like a bodge to me.

Hi Mike.

If you look here, this was my solution (third picture down):

http://www.delta-sin.co.uk/johns-5exi/build9.htm

HTH

Cut hole.

Bend metal and seal. Fix using two rivets.

Seal top and bottom with trigular cut ally and seal.

I have a bigger digital image if that helps.

Hi Limpabit,
Your solution looks very neat - a bigger digital image would be appreciated.

I found the best solution was to bin the Marlin white joining panel, and make my own from an aluminium plate. With that done, mine fits milimetre perfect.

I Just reduced the overall length of the heater box so it fit with in the constrant of the bulk head panel by cutting the heater box and making my own ally plate to fit it
I will have a look at my pics later and email them if that is any help

I've ended up cutting the side panel and making an extension piece to cover the protrusion. Thanks
