Transmission Tunnel

1 Mar 2007, 3:32pm
Hi guys,

The top of tranmission tunnel on the chassis is only stitch welded to the sides (no continuous bead of weld), so I guess I need to seal the seam between the three pieces of sheet metal.

Looking through the Frosts catalogue, I come across this stuff:

http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8320&frostProductName=Joint%20Sealer%20-%20Black%20(310ml)&frostCat=Fillers&frostSubCat=&frostubCatID=

Is this the right sort of stuff to use? I was going to run a bead of filler along the underside of the seam, let it go off and then over paint with some POR15.

Ta,

Jason

Jason,
yup, that's exactly what I did. I can't remember exactly what seam sealer I used, except it was a bit of a messy job!

I over-painted mine with black Hammerite smooth which I brushed on. I gave the whole tunnel a liberal coat hoping that i'll never have to do it again and it doesn't show to anyone but the MOT inspector

have fun, Peter

Yup used the same stuff all over. I need to get some more to do the floor as my tube has dried up.
