SVA - Seat belt upper anchorage

14 Apr 2007, 4:02pm
Has anyone checked that thier seatbelt upper anchorage is SVA OK? If you look at the SVA manual it must be at least 503mm above the base of the seat (See Annex 4) This means that you either need really thin seat pads, or the cross bar that is fitted between the suspension towers needs to be raised quite high.

I have bought some seats from an MX5 but they have quite thick seat pads and I have a feeling this will be a problem. Anyone have any experience, suggestions or comments.

Cheers

The Marlin solution is probably fine for SVA - the raised cross bar, but from a safety perspective I think it will collapse when you have an accident rendering the harness useless. However if you were to construction something similar but from strong materials with a stronger mount then it could work.

Not sure about the hight. They use ruler type thing with a bit of string to measure it.
