As many know I have purchased and mounted a tr6 back box, and had the small problem of it glowing white and and hiting the floor....I did see the funny side.Now I feel stupid as I didnt read the sva manualMy engine is a recon e36 2.5i, which did run a cat, but the date of manufacture was may 91...can someone confirm that I dont need the cat as this applies to cars from 92 on?Maybe now the heat going to the back box will allow it not to melt off.

You don't need a cat as its pre-92. Just needs to pass the pre-cat emissions regulations - less that 4.5% cos and 450 or 500 hydro carbon (I think?)
