I'm getting a very strong urge to fit bigger/different wheels to my car, it's the one thing about 50% of people comment on!
Looking at the front hubs I think it is relatively easy to redrill for 5 stud, the rear hubs, however, don't have any material between the existing 4 stud positions and I don't like the idea of welding to forged parts in such a structural place!
The wheels I really want are some Audi RS4 replicas in 19", I can get them 8" wide with a 45mm offset, so with careful choice of tyres I think they wouldn't stick out of the bodywork. I would be going from 4x114.3mm pattern to 5x112mm.
Are there any other options short of making up new hubs that I have missed?
Hi Rich, Have you thought of using adaptor plates? Performance Alloys sell H&R adaptors for many applications so may be able to help.
Have to ask you why you want to change the wheels though as you have your Phantom up for sale don't you and I notice your personalized 'C' reg has changed to a normal 'E' reg, so have you decide to keep her after all the hard work???? regards, madolddog
Aside from the engineer in me hating adapter plates as a rule, the offsets are already 50mm and that is about the maximum any aftermarket wheels go to so there isn't any more space for the additional thickness the plates would give.
I get bored if things stay still, hence thinking about wheels! I never actually owned the numberplate, but unfortunately the only way it could be removed was after the rebuild when the car was re-MOT'd which is when I lost it again...
Hi Rich, Now I understand why the same reggo number is on the silver Duratec demo G50/Virago and I gather then that it was the original reg on the damaged car you bought,so unable to retain. With the wheels and associated problems then maybe using some Image wheels is the way to go with the choices they offer and sizes/offsets etc say Billet 40/47/35/63 or 101 - or having some 'custom' wheels made by Performance Alloys at around 1200 plus tyres !!!
The prices of custom wheels put me off fairly quickly! Also for a car of its size I somehow think that it would look wrong with big rims and them only being 4 stud...
Ha, Yes a sharp intake of breath!!! You could always get the rims that have 'cover plates' over the studs which would look ok and also keep the s**t off the wheel nuts/studs! Just had a thought.... are the Legend hubs the same splines with 5 studs?

Thought about this and found a picture of some TSW Pace in 19 inch on a Sierra which are 108mm x 4 and they don't look wrong to me so if the Rover ones are 114.3mm x 4 should be OK don't you think?

Rich, Just looked on the PA site and the cost of 1200 is for 4 wheels(17 x 7) see attachments,and whilst there I did a search by car and the can do 89 rims in 18's or 19's is sizes 8",9" or 9.5" from 125.00 for an 18 x 7.5 to 397.00 for an OZ GTR (especially for the Phantom?) chrome 18 x8 with a 19 x 9.5" from AEZ in there too! funnily enough they don't list the TD Pro Race as suitable fitments for the 827/Sterling
Sorry for slow reply - been on holiday.
My hubs are from the next generation Honda Legend after the 827.
Fronts were easy, just had to have stub axles turned up on the lathe.
Rears required new bearing housings to be turned up (slightly bigger bearings than the 827) and a full set of drive shafts making (outer splines to suit Honda Hub inner splines to suit 827 gearbox joints)
