Indicators??

11 Sep 2007, 7:45pm
Hi, I have wired my indicators tonight and although they work they flash quick! Like when you have a bulb out??

Not sure why yet but was wondering where the feed for the side repeaters comes from as I have taken mine from the front of the respective sides and maybe this is wrong??

Cheers

Are the indicators wired in parallel, and are all the bulbs the correct wattage for the relay?

Hi Craig.

If your using the Marlin loom, there should be side repeater wires already there. If not it should be just a matter of connecting to the respective side indictor feeds.

Have you got all the bulbs in left/right front/back?

Cheers all sorted now and everything working as it should! It was just a dodgy earth not tight enough

Cool. I bet you kicked yourself when you found the glitch!

Have you sorted the hazards?

No not even tried John, I think I will need some guidance on that one ie where to solder them diodes ha

On a positive note though I (think) I only really have left wiring wise!

hazards switch
fog light and switch
reverse wired up but not tested yet
and speedo but judging by all my other smiths gauges it should be simple as they only took about 10mins each

Must admit I will be happy when the wiring is finished!!

Does the live feed to the indicators have to be switched?

If I leave the feed perm live it is very easy to wire in the hazard switch but as soon as it is switched live ie ign 2 it's very hard (for me anyway)

Would this affect sva or anything else?

Cheers
Craig

ps only my hazard and reverse left now just finished the fog

Hi Craig.

Hopefully this will help you.

It needs to work both on ignition and off. So switched positive and perm needs wired in.

The hazard switch is one of the most complicated bits of electrics on the car.

Reverse easy. Rear fog I ran through a relay. Just in case. I have a electrical diagram for this as well if you need it.

The main issue you'll have with the Savage hazard switch, is the limited switching.

Later I'll sketch out what I did, if I remember.

Hi,
I used a savage switch. My diagram was like so:

F15 is switched +ve, F14 is perm.
The two lines out bottom left are the feeds to the lamps (and dash warning lights). I didn't bother to show the illumination for the switch.

Rich,

Interesting - you used a relay, I used high capacity diodes.
