What happens after SVA to get the car registered? I know there's a form to fill in to say where the cars bits are from to keep the donor plate, do the people at the test centre give you the necessary info after you pass?
I didnt get anything from the SVA centre other than the SVA pass certificate. I visited the local DVLA office to register the car. I couldnt use the donor plate but could have a age related plate. I had forms to fill in and had to get a MOT on the vehicle once all forms and MOT were handed in they arrange for a inspector to visit me ( can be up to 6 weeks for his visit) and check the cars build details for being eligable for the age related plate. After this it took about a week before i was issued temporary certificate of registration which you can then use to get set of number plates and tax.

I supposed I could trailer the car to the DVLA station in Portsmouth so they could look at it there rather than wait for them to come to me. Somebody with a trailer owes me a favour!
You need to contact them in my area they have 1 inspector who travels arround and they dont do inspections at the DVLA office. I was lucky he came to me within a week but they did say could take up to 8 weeks depending on where he was in the area. Biggest problem is they wont let you book a inspection until you have submitted all the paperwork.
I'll give them a call see what up. Odd that you needed an MOT the total kit car site insists that you don't need one I'm going to get an MOT anyway for mine before I go as I'd like to get them to adjust the headlights and check emissions.
Did you have to send a folder full of invoices to VOSA to prove that you built the car yourself as well? I'm sending of a wadge off photocopies today.
Suspension (front and back) - what parts do they mean? Springs and dampers are new from Gaz (for a BMW) but swing arms, hubs etc are from the donor. What did you put down for yours?
EDIT: Did you also put down the colour you were going to spray the car on the form before it was painted?
only items you can use for age related are engine and gearbox. Suspension has to be complete including front. The Engine and gearbox are enough to get the plate though. Colour has to be what it is at time of registration and changed later so Biege/Silver.
Dont know about the donor being SORN you will need to speak with DVLA regarding that one.
I've just gone through this and it's a right mare if it goes awry. Forms went off and I missed a signature - check the front and back of all forms obviously. They only told me this when I chased to ask about inspections. They let "me" take the car somewhere for the inspection (I didn't do this, my builder did). I then heard nothing for weeks in which time I've had countless warnings from the insurance company that my insurance will be cancelled if I don't provide my new reg number ...
I chase the DVLA last week after 5 whole weeks and got a lovely tale of how hard done by they all are because the 1 lady who does kit car regs has been on holiday for 3 weeks in the last 5 and no-one else can do her job as well as she can! mysteriously though I got a call back later in the afternoon to say that by a complete coincidence my forms had been processed that very day!!
Reg authorisation arrived yesterday so L48 DUE should be on the road tonight.....
Mine too! I was advised to do this by dvla when I told them my plans for the car. They told me definitely DO NOT scrap it or you will get a Q plate.

I didn't a receipt - I paid the man £25 (he had a tiny add in the paper) and it was dragged off. You have to say what you did with the rest of the car on the V627/1 but didn't see anything saying if you needed proof or what the status of the donor should be. However do you not loose the V5 if you send it off to be scrapped? Which you do need to get the age relate plate I think.

I got all the forms (or so I thought) from the DVLA. Trying to get through to ask them if you have the right ones is a nightmare. I ended up going down there in person. Once there, I found I had not filled out the built up form. Glad I did not post documents and wait for a reply. Did it there and then. Handed over donor log book, insurance and receipts from Marlin. They then booked me in there and then to bring the car to get inspected.
The Swansea DVLA said I needed a MOT. Local office did not mention it.
Went through without passing an MOT. Got an age related reg plate but not the donors one.
Will check with DVLA what I need to do about the donor plate. Did not want to confuse them too much at the time.
Excellent, I'm quite close to the Theale office at work so I might take a trip up there one lunch time after the test (as long as it passes! I should say after the re-test) and get everything done
Did you just turn up or have to let them know you were coming?
