Can anyone tell me if sva would pass the mesh being secured by visible cable ties? I would rather wait until after painting to permanently secure the mesh.I have seen Patricks clever solution to the fixing problem-what have other builders done?Cheers

I haven't done mine yet but the method I have used before on other kits is to put some blobs of plastic padding on the inside of the cone in strategic places. Screw self tappers into the plastic padding (before it sets) but cover them in something non-stick first (I think I used cling film - can't remember for sure) Once the plastic padding has gone off you can unscrew the self tappers (hopefully) and use those to secure the mesh. If you are going to do this best to practice first on a bit of scrap material!

How's progress on your car - sounds like you are moving on quickly now. Any pictures for us all to look at?

Thanks Robin-are the plastic blobs simply a glass fibre type kit from a motor store, or is there something different to this?

Years ago it was actually called "Plastic Padding" - but any two part filler stuff would do I guess as long as it's strong enough once set.

I had mine tie wrapped on for many months but wasn't sure how the SVA man would view it so glued it in and removed the tie wraps before my SVA. I used some two part 'goo' that halfords sell to repair plastic bumpers. I decided the cost and hassle of an SVA fail wasn't worth it for this 'happeth of tar'.
