I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread listing the differences between the old SVA and the IVA due to be introduced in April 2009. If anyone knows how to make this a "sticky" perhaps they would (Or tell me how to do it) Lets try and keep the list informative so please include the section in the IVA manual to which it refers. I'll start it off....

Do you know what section in the manual refers to a dipped beam warning light? I can see there is a new section called identification of controls but that only seems to say if you fit them they must be marked appropriately.

I'm not sure what section it's in. I see it in the IVA section in Complete Kit car.

This could be difficult as I have already bought the filler cap and from memory it isnt tethered and certainly doesnt use the same key out:

I know my donor (1992 Rover) did not have a lockable cap supplied. Even the 2008 Zafira does not have a lockable petrol cap. Just the remote flap release.

I can't think of a car that has this to be honest.

The warning lights for dipped and main beam - according to the manual, it says that the light bulb symbol (which I intended to use as my side / dip light) is the 'Master Light' symbol, and should be on a green lamp.

Mine's on a blue one... And what eactly does a master light indicator indicate? That the lights are on? Wouldn't that mean the headlights are on?

I haven't seen anywhere that sells a side lamp (green) or dipped lamp (green) that would match the table on page 134.

The fuel flap locks when you lock the car so I guess they class that at lockable using the same key

Which manual are you looking at? In the one I downloaded (IVA inspection manual for M1 passenger Cars V3.pdf) I can't find any mention of a mandatory warning light for dipped beam. Is there a later version perhaps?

Both of my sensible cars (1 series and Scenic) have a thin plastic strap/wire that attaches the cap to the body. I assume this complies to the "tether" requirements.

I have an after market cap for the Sportster and it seems that it should be pretty easy to attach something to the inside of the cap that is then secured to the join where the filler neck meets the rubber tube going to the tank. I was thinking about using a long stainless ti-wrap - the sort that is used to secure CV boots.

On reading it again, it doesn't say that it's mandatory... And the colours and symbols are for guidence only. I started to look due to your post in the instrument thread:



But flicking through again I can't see any requirement either. I was only worried that I'd bought the wrong colour lights!

i've never really been taken but Lotus 7 lookalikes but that MEV Sonic 7 really is a nice looking car! Especially the blue and white one under construction.

I'll have to get one of my sons interested.........

Version 3 seems to be the latest. No mention of warning lights for dipped beams that I can find. Neither could I find anything outlawing an outside exhaust but I am still looking....
