Carpet

20 Mar 2009, 1:45pm
For all of you that purchased the Marlin trim kit - what sort of carpet did they use. Is it that thin stuff with pronounced ribs? Actually if anyone has a really close-up shot of the carpet's construction that would be good.

Although I wasn't going to use carpet, I think I may have to on the transmission tunnel at least. My seats are a tight fit and they rub at the sides and I think carpet would be the best thing as a low friction material to prevent premature wear.

Cheers

I bought most of my stuff from Martrim and made it, carpet was cheap and so was the alacantra :)

Looks like standard car speaker box cover stuff to me, the slightly firmer variety.

It's 100% synthetic, not very thick with no backing, but it's not ribbed. Not sure where it comes from, but I bought a cheap set of mats from Tesco that are almost identical, not that i'm suggesting you use Tesco car mats on your tunnel! It must be mass produced, so its just finding a suitable supplier? Maybe follow Patrick's idea of speaker box covering? There is loads on ebay....
