I've had numerous cars including several kits. Deteriating health means early retirement on limted income so I have to be careful with the pennies.
I can no longer enjoy riding a motorbike so recently bought a road legal quad with the hope of still getting some of the two wheel thrills but found it nasty to ride so have sold it already.
Next idea is take a cheap road legal Chinese buggy and "fettle" etc until it's acceptable. The constant lack of funds means I'm after a 150cc version with intention of converting the rear to single rear wheel so it can be classified as a trike and therefore only £15 pa road tax.
I should add I'm a classic car nut (have A35, Minor, Herald convertible & 1968 Land Rover) and also have a passion for micro cars (currently got Microcar RJ125 but have owned Isetta, Berkley T60, Lomax, Aixam, Piaggio Vespacar and Microcar DX125).
Converting a Chinese buggy to single rear wheel is easy but it's got me thinking about twin rear wheels like my Isetta.
Anyone know how close together two rear wheels have to be before DVLA will classify as a tricycle ?
I've got 4 bikes and one is a Honda NV50 Stream trike. The rear wheels are no more than 18" max apart and it's classed as a two wheeled moped so know there is scope within the rules.
