New Rivnut toy - highly recomended :)

I saw this reviewed in one of the kit car mags a few months ago http://www.memfast.co.uk/ as I'm only a few miles from the place I thought I'd pop over and see what they are like in real life - I liked it so much I bought one, I just wish they'd been around when I started my build as I'm now going to have to go back through the car and replace all the self tappers. I did have a rivnut gun before but it was a lever type one and it nearly took my eye out when it broke!

Got any pics of what you get with it Chris? I went to the Memfast website and they mention 'installation kits'

What's in the kit?

Thinking of getting one of these for setting rivnuts in the fiberglass - I have a pneumatic one for use with my compressor, but it didn't do a very good job on the small rivnuts I used to mount some striker pin plates I put on my Sportster. It's two powerful, and almost pulled the nut through...

The "installation tool" is the hand tool section but the kits are effectively that plus which ever mandrel you want ie M6, M8 etc each come in a seperate little box, photos below, I haven't got any photos of using it on the car yet but I will have over the weekend :)

Ah - so 1 installation kit = 1 mandrel. Therefore if you wanted say M4, M6 & M8, you'd need 3 installation kits.

Hmmmm. Interesting. :)

About 20 years ago I bought a Clinch nut setter from RS components. A worthwhile purchase as it was quick and easy to use like a riveter.
After all this time I have only broken the M4 setter as I wasn't careful with it and levered on the tool a little while undoing it and snapped the setting bit.
