The Gooster took it's first flight today - Took her for a blast down the road and back to 'make sure everything was OK'

By heck - she goes like brown stuff off a stick. I like!!!

Cue big grins, and ooos and ahhs from the local kids.

Why am I miffed, after that? I asked Pauline to record the momentus event.

"Is it recording" I ask.
"Yes. The camera thingy icon is on the screen"
"yes, but does it say REC"

I receive a hard stare worthy of Paddington Bear.

"OK - Here it goes" I say, and pull the car out of the garage, and then wazz it down the road.

15 mins later, back in the house, I review the footage. Which is an apt description, as all she'd recorded was 6 seconds of her feet.

Looks as if I'm going to have to do a Capricorn One and stage it again tomorrow, after an giving Pauline an in-depth course on how to use the fudgin' camera!

Have you got any ideas when you might be going for IVA?

No idea yet. Need to get some seats first, as I doubt it'll pass with me turning up sat on my cordless drill case!

Yeah - clutch seems to work well, now that it's been bled properly. I think it'll be even better once I have a proper seat in there and I don't slide back marginally on the drill case when I press the clutch!

I remember doing exactly that (sitting on a drill case). The British Standard Drill Case must be a good fit for the British Standard Kit Car Builder backside...

In burgundy I think, to contrast nicely with the BRG paint.

I tried them at Stoneliegh, and they're very comfortable. They look the part (not many 30's cars had FIA approved race seats ), and more importantly Pauline likes them.

The head rests are removable as well, so I'll be able to use a standard Marlin tonneau cover

They look good!
Might be worth checking the size of the head rest; he didn't bother measuring them on my IVA but they do have to be a certain size....

They look rather nice. I didn't come across this particular manufacturer when I was doing my "seat survey" - if I had I would have been tempted. Are you going to go the full hog (sorry) and have leather? From personal experience leather is considerably more comfortable and tends to last longer IF you take are of it.

I was going to go the cheapskate approach and go for synthetic - mainly due to the open top and the possibility of it getting drenched on a run out...

That said, I like leather (Well, it depends who's wearing it ) and my old Saab convertable had leather seats. But it did have an electric hood that could be put up in less than 30 seconds!

I'm not sure how leather behaves when it's wet. I suppose it depends what is wearing it - the cows seem to manage OK lol. I guess I might find out though one day soon as I STILL don't have a tonneau that fits. grrrrr
