I've been busy doing some more weaving, and have got the indicators working. I have also got the hazards working, so all indicators flash OK, but I'm having problems with the hazard warning light for the dash.
I'm not using a 'normal' Hazard warning switch - I'm using a DPDT toggle switch so it matches all the other switch gear I'm using. The switch works fine in the circuit shown below, but I can't work out how to get the dash hazard light to work correctly with it.
I've tried tying it to the hazard light feed (attempt 1), but this just illuminates all the time as it's hot continually.
I've also tried tying it to one of the indicator circuits, which is fine for the Hazard switch... It just flashes when you flick the indicator stalk to that side as well (Well duh... )
How do I get my dash lamp to flash only when the hazard lights are on?
Just a thought - in Attempt 2, would a diode after the splice to the hazard lamp work? It'd allow current to the hazard light on the dash and all the RH indicators, but would inhibit current flow back from the indicator stalk...
If you use a relay coil across one set of indicators and a connect one of the contacts to the other you will get an output only when both sides are 'On', which will be when you are using the hazards.
It's a relay based 'AND' gate, There might be 12 volt semiconductor versions out there, but you would have to trawl thru their specs. You would still probably need to use a relay as i suspect that they won't have suitable current switching ability to drive the hazard lamp.
