This is a read-only archive of the old Madabout Kitcars forum. New posts and replies are no longer possible, but every thread is still here to browse and read.
Don't worry. There is still plenty of work that can be done now it's passed.
I might be wrong, but are you on the original Marlin read end? If so, I would like to know how you handling is at motorway speed when your under heavy acceleration to 70 :-) and lift off accelerator at that speed.

I wound up the suspension for the SVA. It was mentioned that I could fail if the wheels were outside of the bodywork at an point. To ensure it didn't we fitte 'spats', but they intruded into the wheelspace and caught the tyres without upping the suspension.
Anyway the acceleration up to 60mph was fine, as was lift of. However I took it up to a 'slightly higher speed' (under 3 figures). It felt flighty accelerating, but scared the sh!t out of me when I lifted off. I nearly needed both lanes!!!!
I put a lot of it down to the setup. It certainly needs sorting out.
My list of jobs include:
Set up headlights again (only just got passed)
Sticky front calliper
New header tank & sort the water system
Lock nuts on gear linkage (came loose during test)
Suspension set up
Tidy bodywork (and possible respray)
Seal windscreen properly
Sort heater
Fit stereo
Suspension recall
See Marlin about body fit.
A great acheivement passing the SVA or IVA. Enjoy...
Have a good time driving the car. I think setup right the car is enjoyable.
Pm Matt and ask for his settings.
He has the 5EXI going round on rails with the original (what I call mk1)suspension and the torque of the turbo engine. No jittering at high speed on lift off at motorway speed. Only difference is 205 rear tyres (I think) which our body work won't go to. . But don't think that would make much of a difference.
Total enjoyment at high speed rather than risking your life feeling!
Think he done a mixture of vx220 and Elise settings. But seems to go round that track at a speed no problems. On a straight at 130 on the clock at low boost. No feeling of being unstable. Even on lift off an braking.
Strange.
Another thing that should be on your list is:
Remove steering turning limiters and weld in the rear frame.
