What size steering wheel have you tried/fitted/ended up with, and why?
Is there an optimum diameter?
What is the biggest you can be comfortable with?
I am building a Cabrio, and as there will be no power steering I am inclined to go as big as is sensibly possible.
Can a standard 370mm BMW wheel be used?
How did you all manage to remove the fixings securing the BMW steering column - it seems to have circular shamfered nuts?
I am using an old 14" Momo wheel at the moment. I bought it off Ebay specially for the SVA as it has a padded centre. I would say it is a bit too big and puts a small bulge in the tonneau. Steering a little heavy at manouvering speeds but fine on the move. I intend to get a 13" wheel sometime....
I don't rememember the fixings for the column - it was 5 years ago when I dismantled the donor. I guess the nuts are anti-tamper? I would suggest a decent set of molegrips might be the answer.
