hi, building a porsche speedster, which is based on a austin metro,basically the top half of the vehicle has been cut off, floorpan is untouched,all the outer panals are removed and a frame has been welded to strenghten and bolt doors and new body too.all electrics are metro, engine suspension,fuel tank,brakes all sit in the same place on the metro floorpan,reading threw a kit car mag and they seemed tobe doubting weather it needed the iva test ,any idea,s about this,cheers
Reading the page more closely and to quote from it
"If less than eight points are scored or a second-hand or modified chassis or altered monocoque bodyshell is used an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA), enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA), single vehicle approval (SVA) or motorcycle single vehicle approval (MSVA) certificate will be required to register the vehicle. A 'Q' prefix registration number will be allocated."
As you have modified the monocoque you look like you will fail the criteria, however considering the cost of doing an IVA it may be worth trying to get it registered.
Though if you go through an IVA you may have the option of claiming it is a 'kit conversion', and not a 'radically altered vehicle' in which case you may be able to get an age related and not 'Q' plate.
just being on the gov website scored over ten points,but because of the modified frame,ithink they will want an iva test,i work around the corner from the gov testing station, so ill pop in have a chat with there guys,thanks for youre help
