Was looking at the goosters use of heavy duty heat shrink at the front suspension and track rod ends-did this suffice for iva? Also does it require removal of various parts to fit or can it be split, wrapped around and heat shrunk?
Yes, the heatshrink was sufficient for IVA; you can get it from CBS. You will need to take the track rod end off, slide the shrink tube on to the rack arms and then put the rod ends back on.
You can't cut the tubing down as it wouldn't shrink tightly around the parts
My tester was happy with plastic concertina ducting (you know, the stuff you can put around wires) with tie -wraps to squeeze it up and hold it in place.
If you use the split stuff you don't have to dismantle anything.
Electrical cable glands can be a useful source of covers but you have to find the right size...by trial and error.
I think the large B&Q shops do some or find your local friendly electrical shop...
something like these...with the small end cut off fit over track rod ends neatly.
I have read that for the IVA they now need to look permanent and 'made for the purpose' so I'm not sure if split conduit and cable ties would be acceptable any more.
For smaller bits and bobs, bolts and connectors, these look quite neat and professional...
My split conduit went through IVA, but maybe my tester was a bit relaxed about it. I initially failed on because I had nothing at all in place and thats what he advised. I also failed the radius test on the mudguards and was advised to put some trim over the offending area. The advise was to only glue the back!
