or as Gary gave her full name the Skip Diver Special and she is going to be yellow, but I'm not going to paint her just yet and so it's MOT time next weekend. was going in today but found the MGF wheels/Tyres touch the tiebars on the back "spacers on the way" original tyres not legal so I've taken my foot off the pedal got a week to fit bonnet strapes and sort dash lights and fit mirrors... yep, you is correct due to computer things at the MOT station skippy is still a herald and I haven't got my V5c yet oh well odds 'n' sods still to do I'll have to be content driving up n down the drive and across the grass..PAT

Yahoo! V5c arrived this morning, it had been post to me on the 10th August they had even done the change of colour, under 4 weeks. Great, next stop the MOT station. Phone insurance co then a Tax disc. Anyone got atip for an insurance co best quote I've had was swinton speical vehicels section. PAT
Tried Footman and Flux, the company at the top of the page Sureterm Direct quoted £20 cheaper than Flux same cover same company I'll persist in my quest if you have time to kill try an 0800 from yellow pages and let them try and find a pre1972 car. The £140 area seems to be the going rate fully comp, I'll let you know what I find out. Pat
Hi all, work on Skippy on hold at the mo,can't do much from my hospital bed but I am going to spend time finding a good insurance deal, all she needs is the brakes bleeding and off to the MOT station. She is going to paint in the winter after I've driven her abit and don't want to alter anything, so for now every one keep up the good work and I'll see you at Exeter KCS...
Thank you folks for your kind regards, I've had a bit of trouble with the old ticker, home now! but I'm only permited to look at skippy and talk to her, no driving for 4 weeks anyway, but on the mend. I've got a bit of time to kill now so I'll try and work out how to get some pics on here and research the insurance thing,thanks again and she will be at Exeter even if its on a trailer. PAT
Nice looking wheels, they really do suit the Sammio imho. I'd go with slightly taller tyres to fill out the arches. Have you tried steering it with the fat wheels yet? I'm guessing it's going to make the steering a tad heavier.
Hi, steering is not to bad thats up and down the drive and turning around to get in the garage, the wheels are from an MGF they came with the tyres from ebay at half the price of a set of hub adapters and £30 for the right nuts, mind you I got 4 MGB wheels and legal tyres for £10 locally off ebay just a bit rusty no loose spokes and round and true had a quote of £35 a wheel to blast and powder coat them from a local firm I like local, P&P is a killer at times, I've got a list of 15 insurance brokers and will startringing them on monday and I'll stick the results up here next week.. Agreed on the ebay p&p, I look for local items if it's going to be a heavy package. There's always shiply to find you a courier service: they seem to know what they're about but I've yet to win an item that I needed to have shipped so I haven't actually used them yet.
Your mgf alloys have got me thinking now, would a set of 'Trophy 160' 7x16's fit...
Out of interest, who was the firm who said they could refurb your wheels?
The reason i'm asking is that i got a set of MGC wires really cheap (with tyres and tubes!) and i am currently planing on doing some sort of reburb myself. But if it's only £35 to get them done "properly" and you're only a few miles down the road, then that might be money well spent!
hi pat were did you get your wheel nuts from and spacers?? im using the same wheels for mine, but need to locate some wheel nutsand a rear spacers, did u change the rear wheel studs for longer ones???
Hi Gary,I got spacers and nuts off EBAY the spacers from ebay shop, liveley1234 5mm MGF and the nuts from ebay shop, classicsteeringwheels 3/8 classic mini with 5/8 sleeves. I haven't extended the studs as there seems to be plenty of turns on the new nuts and 5mm is a couple of turns on this thread pitch. The tyres just clear without the spacers but I've put them in as I remember from Spitfire days a bit of rear end steer which all adds to the fun......
I'm on the mend now thanks, but 4 weeks no driving the trouble is I feel fine but regular doc visits for the next 6 weeks tells me otherwise....
Hi, no I haven't done any thing with the inner archs yet, I was thinking of plastic trailer mud guards bonded into the body making it all a bit more ridged, mud guards like fitted to garys sammio trailer which were deeper on the inside....Pat
