Anyone got any ideas / come across this themselves.
My rear calipers dont fit. There is a 1cm gap between the caliper mounting bracket and the "ears" on the Marlin upright if the caliper mounting bracket and the caliper are to fit around the disc. I have double checked but the disc seems to be correctly fitted on the hu. The hub is tight into the bearing (any closer and it fouls the upright and the bearing is correctly fitted in the upright with the circlip in place.
Cleary I could just pack the gap with washers / custom shim - but is this OK?
I had some issues with rear brakes, my donor being 25 model and the driving flange from the front now fitting to the rear meant the rear disc did not sit over the centre of the driving flange. I don't know whether this is just 25 donor or all 200 series. If I had realised before pressing in the bearings etc I would have had the driving flange modified to suit standard discs. I unfortunately only found out afterwards which meant I had to modify the discs to fit. I would just ask fellow builders to ensure that the discs sit all the way back onto the driving flange, not that easy to be absolutely sure, I ended up using a run out guage to make sure the discs were running true. I think I required one or two washers to pack the calliper mountings. I don't remember having any probs with front end.Brian.
I think I may have stripped the thread on the carrier. After painting them up as well!! Either that or there very very tight even with WD40. It won't go in anymore but still not fully home. There was not a lot of bolts that size left from the donor so assumed these was the correct ones. And the fronts are supposed to be the easy ones!! Maybe a trip the the scrappies this weekend to get the correct bolts and carrier if needed. Not sure if the carriers/calipers are the same across the Rover Range but just bought brand new discs and pads based on a 220 Turbo Coupe 1993!!
