Greetings folks. Talking to Mark and Terry, and sussing out the US version of your IVA, before ordering a Sportster LHD to build in Gainesville Georgia.
Friend in Devon has 30yr old Roadster with Mirafiora DOHC.. Looked up Marlin and it was "amour." LOL.
Am part of the Cobra (AC) group there, so have done some building.
kss motorsports.com is family owned, so have access to lots of BMW high end gear.
Probably use a DOHC six in the build.
Have never seen such thorough build diaries, thank you guys, absorbing as much as I can.

Spent the last 6 weeks in Gainesville Georgia, stripping and prepping front, rear suspension and diff from '95 325i. 110K miles
Did not go the whole donor route as I don't think I will have the time to part out the remaining parts.
Large breaker yard, Bimmersouth, gave me a good price on above package because Kinetic does a lot of business with them.
Quite the place, drive trains stacked 5 high and wide, complete with harnesses, ecus, etc.
Trying to get quotes on shipping to Atlanta area from Marlin, and would appreciate some help, if I may ask. Marlin are a little busy at the moment.
I would like to ship, by sea freight, in one crate, with a pallet bottom, the chassis, with all glassfibre and aluminium (note: spelled correctly) parts.
Probably not with the roll bar installed, will do that at this end.
May I impose on someones good nature to measure up a build in progress and give me some dimensions for a crate.
Any suggestions for a shipper would also be appreciated.

I have no experience or contacts in international shipping so cannot help much.
However, I do know there is a guy called Peter Watson in Vancouver, BC who imported a Marlin Sportster kit, so it has been done before! IMG_2703 by Sherry Lamoreaux, on Flickr
If you can track him down, he may be able to help?
The other idea is to contact jmc14 on this form. He is currently having a Sammio Sypder kit shipped to somewhere in the USA. He may be able to help?
I can measure the size of the chassis, if that will help you get quotes for a crate big enough?
You might want the roll bar fitted by Marlin to protect all the GRP parts? This is the chassis by marlinpeter, on Flickr

We used this guy to ship the servos recently from USA to UK. He is based near Marlin, so should be worth a try. If Peter can provide a crate size and weight, and you the address for delivery, I guess Miles might be able to look after the rest for you? And he is a lower price than the big multi nationals - UPS etc.

My Sportster Chassis is 132" long and 52" wide.
The height to the top of the roll bar is approx. 37.5" and without the roll bar is approx. 24" to the highest point behind the dashboard. Both measured from the floor line which is the lowest point of the chassis.
The rear tub without the wings fitted is about 0.5" wider than the chassis.

Chasing up some numbers to crate and ship from Marlin to Kinetic.
Looks pretty good at approx US$ 1350.
I estimated 350cm L x 200cmW x 150cm H, so looks good.
On another matter, I am talking to Kinetic's BMW guru (Kinetic Sunbelt Engines is the builder, dyno-er,LOL, and certifier for Grand am, Rolex, SCCA, ALMS race BMW engines), as to how they get around the immobiliser and EWS systems when building.
Will see how much he is prepared to reveal to me
