As I head for the open road on the 1st March I need to consider weatherproofing the little monster.
I would be interested in any bodies thoughts and comment on the style and usability of the available gear (now the long tail variety) and also if it keeps the inside of the car free of water.
Are there any alternatives?
Are there any improvements or benefit in going to a custom maker and commissioning a special cover?
It standard roof don't do a bad job. Water does get in usually around the front bottom corners. Seems to be where the aerodynamics force the water when picking up a little speed.
Have you got doors? If so, it can come in where the door hinges are. We ended up making front wheel arch type devices. Still need to do the rear. But still playing in that area at the minute.
In 2008 I took my car to Belgium & Germany to do Spa & The Ring. The rain was torrential for the first 2 days and nights and apart from a tiny trickle around the screen which nestled nicely on top the dash (easy to mop up) I had no problems at all. Far better than when I used to own a Westfield.
When I had my exi the Marlin supplied and fitted roof was very good, and as already said only has the minor failures, albeit maybe not the cheapest option was money well spent.
