BMW Spares prices

When I started my Sportster build in 2004 I often found the BMW genuine spares for small items like, clips, bolts, gaskets etc. good value for money.
During my recent engine rebuild, I've been buying a few gaskets and small parts as I usually think its false economy reusing old gaskets and 'o' rings, etc.
I only buy parts from BMW direct that I can't find anywhere else cheaper.
Recently, some of the prices seemed to be higher than expected so I took a look at my file of receipts (kept for the SVA inspector but never looked at!)

Today, I bought a new manifold/exhaust pipe gasket. It cost me £9.54 + VAT.
In 2005 the same gasket cost me £6.81 + VAT
I wish I bought two then!! :wink:

Hmmm. Thats a 40% rise over about 6 years which is a bit excessive!

Brought on by the worldwide shortage of gasketing paper! :)

What was the exchange rate with the Euro back then, compared to now?
I suspect you'll find that is the biggest cause of the increase?
