It occured to me that dealing with dismantling and refubishing 40/50 year old Heralds/ Spits is not to bad, but how about all the older kitcars that are now deemed not so cool as they were in the eighties.
How about the Dutton Pheaton. Wheel base 86/87 inches.
Then you start off with a reletively new and stiff chassis that probably had most of its bushes/springs done when it was built up first time round. Probably not done many miles since built.
The framework for the bulkhead may be about right for a more beautiful body with a bit of tweeking......just a thought.

I know that this sort of topic was mentioned when the Spyder first broke cover as a lot of the modern kit-car "scene" were talking about Gary electing to use such an 'old' Donor and there was a lot of gossiping about what alternative routes you could take, i.e. the use of a lo-cost type chassis
Seeing as us Sammio types all seem to be a bit "give it a go and see what happens", i can see this route you are mentioning being quite a viable alternative.
I've always thought that the Bugatti Veyron looks a bit dumpy at the front end.
Perhaps Mike could knock up a few panels to Sammio it up a bit.
You'd probably need to go to 185/70/14 tyres to get enough traction on the back end (so long as they don't foul the Veyron bulkhead), but you'd have 250mph, Sammio looks and all on a budget!
