Getting towards the test now...does anyone know any rules of via regarding unused switches? I have mini rocker switches in my centre consul and have included the wiper switch and windscreen wash switch...would this cause a fail because they are present but not working yet? Ta
Hi Chris, as per most builders, I will put the car through iva without a windscreen present,and retro fit,thus those switches won't be active till then.

Mine passed the SVA OK with unused wiper and washer switch (on the BMW stalk).
Don't have them on the dash then, use blanking plates or suchlike. If they are there and there's no windscreen then they will start asking questions, you are supposed to present the car to the testing station as it will be used on the road

I absolutely agree. This is the approach I used for my SVA and passed first time. (even more important now with the high cost of the IVA!)
My principle was.....If it's not required - remove it.
If it is required - make sure it meets the requirement.
It's all about getting the tester in the right frame of mind - the more he can see the trouble you've gone to meet the requirement, the more likely he will be lenient on anything that is not quite 100%.
The driving light rocker switch (on the right of the picture) was non-compliant because the rocker edges were too sharp and didn't meet the 2.5mm radius test!
