Just discovered the Spyder and Cordite and have now set my heart on one (as my head is thankfully busy elsewhere )!
Can the Cordite be built on a GT6 donor as well as a Spitfire?,

I am sure that the GT6 and spitfire have the same chassis so yes it could be built on a GT6.
Would be a shame though, Ive always loved the look of a nice GT6, much more so than a Spitfire anyway.
Have already emailed the company so will hopefully get a reply soon.
Yes i'm sure the chassis are the same as looking on the Rimmer Bros site they share the majority of the same part numbers so i guess it will depend on the bonnet clearing the engine as it's longer.
I'm viewing the GT6 tomorrow and as I understand it it's pretty rotten body work wise and no interior so ripe for use as a donor.
If its just the engine then it may need a Norfolk scoop or bonnet bulge (Not sure as I havent seen a Cordite to see the clearance) but as the rest will fit just fine.
I rather like the look of the GT6 too. Although I think it would be a shame to sacrifice a good one, like many 60's and 70's classics it'd cost far more to restore one than it'd be worth once done.
The main reason many 'mainstream' classics' values rise is because they become rarer as worn out and corroded examples get scrapped. In 1980 I had the option to buy an early E Type Jag with Tax and Test for £1,800 (about the same as a five year old Cortina at the time), but I couldn't get anyone to insure me. The same car today in similar condition would be worth rather more...
Anyway, some cars are beyond economic salvage but GT6 prices do seem to be rather higher than the Herald, Vitesse and Spitfire. Here's one:
Looks like it could be a decent Cordite base as it already has wire adaptors (13" admittedly) and if the listing is correct a twenty five hundred engine. Interesting...

not another fool! don't think it is a simple car build, it isn't. You need to remember all the photos, the endless banter and most of all, when you get the rotten body off and expose................... an even worse chassis!!! then you are truly a member of the "not a kit car club".
hi craig im andy chap68 and yes a gt6 is not a problem as its my gt6 with the new cordite body gary is taking to stoneleigh my original sammio special body is up for grabs for sale has the gt6 bulkhead all moulded in and fibre drop floor pans has the norfolk scoop and if you keep the twin stromberg carbs dont need a bulge only if you use twin su's norfolk scoop just for show realy im using a pi system for my car my original body set up and frame and bonnet is up for £1000 its a bargin will save hours of work!! contact gary at sammio if intrested as he is dealing with it, i have a body shop in cardiff and am hopeing to be a agent for gary in south wales where im based hope this has helped you any advice give me a shout on here or gary has my contact details cheers Andy.
Engine was seized, clutch was seized, gearbox was probably seized and the chassis contained a combination of filler and chicken wire
No interior, cracked windscreen and a bonnet with the consistency of swiss cheese so the main items to re-sell were a no go
And the price? He wanted £1800, no offers!
So i've now secured a nice 71 Spitfire and am going down that route instead.
Just as a background on myself I've restored 3 MGB's and had a hand in numerous other rebuilds, helped build a Westfield many years back and even restored a Jet Ski! Have always tinkered and worked on every car i've owned so am no stranger to the tears, frustration but ultimatley the joy of messing with cars.
