So I managed to get the car sorted and insured (A-plan Insurance )so I took it out for it's inaugral public outing. Poole Quay car night with the theme of "Open top sports cars".
Turned quite a few heads coming in and lots of talk of "what's that?", "Wow look at that", "that's cool" and some kids looking at a Ferarri convertible and one shouted to the other "I want that one" as we drove past"
Loads of interest in the car, and I wore my nice new Sammio Spyder embroidered polo shirt! (sad I know!)
The best moment of the night? A couple of older gents came over and said "We had to come over and see what it was. Either it is a kit car or it should come with bodyguards!"

Funny, we drove along that Quay during our family Easter holiday this year.
One last thing was the point you made in the other thread about wind noise...
I only discovered those yellow foam ear plugs when I started racing motorcycles.
Unfortunately years of riding without them have left me a bit deaf due to wind noise inside my helmet.
So whilst I don't know what the answer is, I'd suggest doing something.
Very nice - and the posh marina looks like the natural habitat of your Spyder. It looks like it can keep its head held high in company with much more exotic and expensive automotive toys.

After driving the Spyder for a while, the fact that they're on age related plates and have no doors do make a lot of people think the above!
Although the guys at work are more jealous that i get to live out my Dukes of Hazard fantasies. Jumping in and out of the car that is, and sadly nothing to do with Daisy duke

Have a go at getting into a doorless Spyder before making that decision. Having had an MX5 I reckon it's actually easier to climb over the side than slot yourself in through sports car doors.
you may have a point, i do want to actually see a few spyders inthe fleash so to speak, but the long chrome hinges onthe doors look soo good!
also just seen a possible boot solution, with "flip up" double hump. pretty neat!
Si, you are entering the world where your wildest fantasies can come true!
My best advice? Think ahead and plan everything you want into the early stages, as it may have affects on things like seat belt mounts, and frame modifications. But don't be afraid to think radically, that's what makes them all different!
The outings make the whole build worthwhile, and mine took 4 months from concept to completion, built on the drive (okay I had a circus tent for the last 3 weeks ) and now I am just going to enjoy it for the "summer" and do some more work on it over the winter.
The funny thing I have found is that you don't have to worry about parking it, and being able to open the doors as there aren't any. And be prepared to stop and chat about it wherever, you go, even to the supermarket!

I went to a open car day at Poole Quay last year in my Marlin Cabrio. There was only one other kit car there and I was gutted when a prize for best car went to a Merc SLK that had been painted pink to match the owner's nail polish.
