Retro Dashboard

Trial fitted the replacement dash. Still needs returns for mounting and a centre console, but already it is hiding the modern MX5 identity of the interior.

Has the dashboard moved on from this?

No progress on the dash as yet, busy with other things. Would you consider one as part of a conversion, if you were going to do an MX250?

Yes, i would'nt want anything left from an MX5... not on show anyway.

That's the way I was thinking also. The dash is the biggest step, the seats (we are making GRP buckets) and doors panels are easier fixes, with items like the steering wheel are a no-brainer. I have found that if you remove all the plastic covering from the handbrake you are left with something that could have come straight out of a 1960's Morris 1000!!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but corrrrrrrrr that looks superb. Im really wanting one of the mx250 kits, but i always worried about having to fabricate my own dash, to get rid of the nasty modern one. but you seem to have sorted the problem. Would be very highly interested in one of these to come with the kit, even if it was an extra purchase.

Thank you for the kind words. Finishing the development of the dash is on our list of things to do, but being realistic it's not going to get finished until mid-september. Keep watching for updates.

Who needs a saw when you can rest the hardboard against a brick and stamp on it to break it?

Not your handywork wca?

I like the pencil marks to align the switches, didn't quite work.

I like the dash but the main thing for me in the center part with the heating controls and CD player. Ive made a start on mine, im going to add on to the dash some extra dials ie voltage meter, clock etc and a panel for some of the buttons im ripping out ie AC, elec windows. also plan do cut the gear leaver down so its nice and thin and get a chrome 'H' gate made up!

I'l keep you posted!...
