Here am I, sitting in the Mallorcan sun, wondering if my house back home has floated away, and planning lots of details for my Cordite, for that is what I shall build. I haven't even ordered it yet, but it does no harm to dream, and we all know what good planning does; in my case it ensures disappointment, as my skills in reality don't measure up to those in my imagination...

Anyway; I'm seeing lots of references to 1mm cutting discs, but I am wondering what tools they're being used in. Thus far, when cutting fibreglass, I've used my Bosch dremel-a-like. However, the body of that is probably 5cm in diameter, whereas the discs are only 2 or 3. This has always meant that I can never get the disc perpendicular to the surface of the panel I'm cutting, and always end up with a slightly bevelled edge.

Is this something everyone here suffers, or do you use larger discs, or end-on tools more like an angle grinder, or is there just a technique I haven't mastered?

5 1/2" Angle grinder with 1mm width discs goes through just about anything you'll need with amazing ease!

If you've got compressed air available, then one of these is very handy



Mine tends to have a full length hacksaw blade (flexible bi-metal) fitted to it.

Ok, so I'll need a new grinder too then, mine's dead. Buying tools is never a chore though

Ooh, a compressor! Realistically, I'm not sure the garage will accomodate one as well as the car.

My main compressor is a 3hp job with a 100 litre tank, but my more portable one is a little Powercraft bought from Aldi for just £80 a few years ago. They're actually pretty good and a friend of mine has used one for beadblasting.

Aldi have them once a year, but you don't get the accessories included for £80 these days! The compressors are made by Wolf and you can find them on ebay;

Actually, I'd forgotten about those. I had one that broke after its first use.

Ok Moriniman, if I buy a compressor, and it doesn't fit in my miniscule garage, then you can explain to my missus why I have to keep it in the dining room. [SIZE="1"]along with my two bicycles...[/SIZE]

The Aldi ones also have the European adaptor on the end so the attachements from machine Mart don't fit without first getting the adaptor. The one I got was about £100 and included 10m of hose, air gun, paint sprayer, tyre inflator and a couple of other bits. Good toy and useful for blowing the dust out of the garage.
