hi all,
my name is Simon and i've just bought a kit car which needs finishing,
i've never had one before so no douubt i will be asking lots of questions.
i live in wiltshire (don't hold that against me) not only do i like cars, i also own a few motor bikes and for my day job i work on vintage aircraft.
cheers Simon
Welcome. I too recently (about a year ago) came to the world of kit cars and now I am hooked. I guess that its a Countach that you have bought, post plenty of pictures and let us all know how you get along finishing the build.
What aircraft do you work on? Im a pilot so always interested in that side of thing as well as the motors!
hi and thanks for the warm welcome,
yes its a countach, the previous owner/builder has done a website for it
www.lamborghini-countach.co.uk there are lots of pics there.
i have worked on lots of different aircraft through the years, the place i work now i've helped restore a tr9 spitfie, a couple of harvards and at the moment we are working on a couple of mk2 hurricanes.
back to the land of kit cars, i need some adviseon which route to take on getting it registered for the road, i've seen some countach's with ordinary numbers plates as well as 'Q' , also some kit cars have got new reg's (how?)
i'm not trying to be snobby and i don't wish to offend anyone here, but i really don't want it sat on a 'Q' plate.
so how do i get around this please.
thanks in advance and i hope you enjoy looking at the website of my car.
regards Simon
Did you get a V5 from the donor of the Transaxle ( most prob a renualt 21?)? If you have great, if you haven't, is everything mechanical on the car brand new and have receipts?
If you don't have a v5, pm me your number and we can have a chat what I did
Cheers
Steve
John - think there is three of us now, deffo like to see a separate section
John - i think that while the lamboreplica.co.uk forum is the "home" of lambo replicas (the name sort of gives it away! ) i think that the community spirit on this forum is attracting more and more people on a day-to-day basis.
I'm not sure if _just_ a Countach section is needed, or would it be worth while initially creating an "Italian replica" section to start off so that it can include all Lambos and Ferrari builders and then if it gets popular enough you could then sub-divide? Just an idea, please feel free to ignore

most of the major bills are missing due to paying a certain company cash to save on the vat, there is no V5 either but i'm looking into that.
