11 Jan 2013, 1:51pm
Hi gents, Ive picked up my donor and very nice it is too! Ive started a blog if you Google 'Hammys 60's Racer' you'll find it. I'll update a as I go along but I find the blog much easier for a long thread. If you are interested in my last creation you can Google 'Hammys Zero'

So far got new suspension and a K&N induction kit to fit, also doing the 14 degree timing mod this weekend. Kit to be ordered in a fortnight!

Tuning

So this weekend new suspension fitted (45mm lower) MX5 Parts decat and dual exit stainless exhaust fitted. I was nervous about messing the bumper up cutting a 2nd exit but it was very easy. Also done the 14 degree advance, new cambelt and K&N induction kit. Its a completely different car now and sounds brilliant! Will update blog soon. CAll to Tribute later to place my order

Sounds like you are nearly ready to pull the panels off your car!

I am Chris, but need to keep driving it first, always been my intention drive it for a few months first, hence the April delivery date. Working on the interior next weekend adding some chrome etc BTW did you get my msg about the address for delivery of the roll bar mate?

Loads a shopping done today on chrome interior bits' bullet mirrors but the bargain I wanted to let you all know about is the Aston style fuel cap from Europa spares, just over 50 quid, I'll let you know what its like when it arrives. Also noted that chrome interior trim from mx5 parts is dramatically cheaper in their ebay shop than their own website

The 50 quid fuel cap is rubbish badly chromed... On the phone to Europa tomorrow......

Alex, who we are building the TVR based car for, brought one of the caps down to the workshop this week, it really is a lovely product. Not a bad price when compared to some of the UK suppliers Cobra units.

Loving the chrome, are you going for wood effect as well?
4 Feb 2013, 9:59am
I'm debating that at the moment

Just to say a big thanks to Hammy's rollcage for finally killing off my long suffering pillar drill, it's replacement is brilliant, twice as big, twice a powerful and twice as quick. I love new powertools!! :whoo:

Glad you like your tool Chris!!
Not much to report for me. new front calipers and looking forward to the finished cage which is going off for chroming. Why you may ask? When i looked at the demonstrator i thought the cage would be a good detail feature when climbing in and needed highlighting as such....

regrets???

I have sourced 99.5℅ of the parts to complete the build, so am I regretting not asking for delivery of the kit earlier?? Well a little bit but experience tells me to stick to the plan! Itching to get going but I have two weeks booked off work from delivery of the kit and will strip the 5 the weekend before. I'll have to find some more jobs on the donor to feed my hunger.....

Spinners arrived, close to concept 1 on my blog and a fraction of the cost from Image.... What do you think?

Hi Hammy,
It looks fantastic.
The Spinners look great

But the wheels are unfortunately too expensive for me :icon_eek:
