Hi all.
First time ever on a forum! I am building Sammio Spyder 129, located in Letchworth in Hertfordshire.
I have an initial question, sure there will be many more! My standard 13/60 brake master cylinder sticks up higher than the level of the bonnet. What is the usual solution to this problem?

I've got a pair on mine (they're interchangeable between brakes and clutch and fit any Herald/Vitesse/Spitfire/etc), and there's no clearance issue. They're very good vfm imho I think my original 'big' master cylinder would've fouled the bonnet if I'd kept it, but it was worn out and needed replacing anyway.
Alternatively, if you want to keep your original m/c, you could simply cut a hole above it in the bonnet and bond a power bulge or scoop over it. Where Sammio/Ribble building is concerned, to quote Yoda, 'impossible is nothing'.
Thanks for the replies, I now know that 2 master cylinders were fitted and I have the taller one ! Typical, I have just put a seal kit in it and filled the system with fluid. Wonder how many more problems 'trial fitting' the body will produce.

Anyone fitted TR6 wheels to a Sammio, cant see anything in the threads?
I've not seen a Sammio with TR6 wheels fitted yet, plenty with 14" or 15" wires (splined adaptors needed at around £300) and MGF wheels (bolt straight on but possibly need cheap spacers).
TR6 steels would look great, the Tribute Automotive A352 demonstrator has them and they look the biz imho.
They're not a straight bolt on fit to the small chassis Triumph hubs, but the adaptors are about a third of the price of a set of large splined adaptors for wires.
By the way, how far have you got in your build? I guess you must have at least trial fitted the body if you already know that your master cylinder isn't going to fit.
Oh, and some pictures would be nice. We all like pictures. Oh yes.

The best thing about this forum is the exchange of ideas and tips between builders.
I recently found the same master cylinder link that Mister Towed mentions above.
So what works for one, usually works for another.

Based on many of the builds on here, the honest answer is a few.
But again many builders have documented what work they did in great detail.
So reading their build threads should help you along the way.
However, as everyone else has said, we do like looking at photos.
As there is a noble tradition here of shameless stealing any ideas we like the look of.
Think the TR6 wheels look good too. Vaguely similar to the D type steel wheels.
Does anybody have a TR6 wheel with tyre or know someone who has one I can borrow?
Before fitting the body, it would be nice to see how close they are to fitting.

Hi and welcome I'm just round the corner Nr Hitchin, and have fitted an MX5 engine and box, I have slowed with the build a little at mo, on third set of floor pans as I can't quite get them how I want them! Will be trying to get back to it when its a little bit warmer and will post some pic's soon too.
Not on here every day so don't be offended if I don't reply straight away!

I'm on 07980 855552. Have you had your inspection yet? I went to Boreham Wood today to sort it out. Have to take the car there, bugger, i dont have a trailer! Then got told the car has to be complete!?

You can borrow the 'communial trailer' for your inspection, I would recommend heading up the A1 to peterboro' as I will be next time, have not had time to re arrange at mo and I meant to get details off Pops when I picked up the trailer, Mr T or Pops will be able to let us know contact details I'm sure. You can pop round some time next week I'll call or message you before hand to arrange.

It's on a quiet semi residential street and it has on site parking. There's a barrier with an intercom and they'll open it when you tell them who you've come to see.
Trouble free 5 min inspection recommend them to all, I e mailed and they called me to arrange a time to suit.
It looks like the vehicle inspections may be contracted out to local businesses. Could be more convenient as the garage down the road might get the contract, but I bet it won't be free any more and there's a chance you might have to present your vehicle in Swansea. I've checked Google Earth to see where Swansea is. It just says 'Here be Dragons'

Thanks for the info Pops / Towed will have to get mine arranged soon, Steve let me know when you get your date, I'm away for ten days from the 13th March so if your inspection is around that time you'll have to pick the trailer up before then. I just put my MX5 shell on it at the weekend to take to the scrappy will hopefully get rid off it on Saturday. Haven't made much progress since Christmas, decided I want metal floors so need to get some sheet metal and use my timber floors as templates, now the snow's gone no excuses to not get out there!
