Finally making a start

17 Apr 2013, 6:18pm
Hi Guys,

looks llike I will be finally making a start after having my kit lying around for a few months now.

I know Chris is mega busy at the moment and has not had the chance to update the build manual any further. So hopefully you lot can help with some questions.

I am going to start on the front of the kit first as I intend to totally strip the interior so want to have more working space to have access to remove dash etc.

. So I am after knowing if i need to :-

a) trim back the rear leading edge that will be bonded to the cut down original wings? to allow for a better finish with the filling. Any photo's would be helpful
b) Should the front be fixed to the cut down original wings with countersunk rivets as well tiger seal?
c) Anyone got a picture of how much needs to be trimmed out of the light bowls?

Thanks

Nev.

I think you mean Chris is mega busy????!

Cut the wings back an inch or so. You can grind a taper on the glass AFTER its glued on.
Hold in place with rivets. Counterbore the glass first. Glue them on with Sikaflex, or epoxy.
Fair them in with a 36 disc on a grinder, then build up with glass to fair in, so you dont need much filler.
Enjoy!
