Long shot - Goodwood FoS 2014

14 Oct 2013, 4:40pm
I saw this post asking for help on an American forum I use...

... We are making plans to attend the Goodwood Festival Of Speed in 2014. No dates have been announced yet but last year it was held on the July 11 to 13 weekend.

I was wondering if anyone has experience attending Goodwood and can give me some advise on where to stay? I believe there is a hotel on site and Goodwood is not far from Chichester which has some hotel and lots of B&B accommodation.

We are planning to go all 3 days...

I know a few people on here go to this event, so can anyone give them any advice?
If so, I will post any replies made here back onto the American site.
Given they are travelling thousands of miles to get here, I thought it would be nice to help if possible.

Cheers, Paul. :)

Main advice is BOOK EARLY. It's a very popular event and local hotels/B&Bs etc fill up quickly.
The Angel Hotel at Midhurst might suit; we've always found Premier Inns to be comfortable.
A word of warning ..... don't go near the Wacky Racers ..... they have water pistols ...... he .. he .. he !

Hi Paul,

I would certainly be intrested in info about the next Goodwood revival aswell. Seems like a really nice goal. Having the car ready for the summer of 2014 and attent to this magnificent event. It would be really great to go with some of the fellow builders here in Holland. I don't know who will be ready by then, and have the spare time and money to go for it. But it's nice to give it a thought.

Michiel, I can recommend driving a Spyder to Goodwood, it's well worth the effort.

There were at least a dozen really nice classics from the Netherlands arrived together just behind me, Porsches, Alfas etc., you might want to check out any Dutch classic car clubs/internet forums to see if you can join the convoy next year :hippie:

Keep up the good work. :)
