mx250 headlight trim

10 Feb 2014, 8:29am
Hi, I'm keen to totally finish my mx250 and looking for ideas/ advice/ suggestions regarding chrome or aluminium edging trim for the headlights. Any one got ideas or at that stage?

I picked up some chrome rings for my headlights at the Exeter show last year. They are pushed into place and look okay to me.

Do you remember the name of the company or supplier?

Very interested in these as well. I was wondering how to finish the surrounds off.

I got mine from an old mini. just 7" lucas type

Oops, I was thinking more about the perspex covers that screw onto the body rather than the headlights themselves.

Trim rings

I suspect that they might mean for the perspex covers rather than the light trim rings, happy to be wrong, but thats what I want to know for the AMZ!

Yes it's the perspex covers I mean

Okay, mine were the rings around the actual lights.

I have put some chrome finish around my brake vents though that might be relevant. It is less that a tenner at Halfords and comes with some 3M double sided sticky strip to fix it.

The challenge of bending it around the curves without it folding over is best overcome with lots of preheating with a heat gun and trying to get ot to sit flat on the floor while still curving.

The next challenge is getting the two ends to join nicely. Unfortumately I don't have any tips for that one

Hi Ken, they have been a long time coming but here are the light trims on Alex's TVR/GTO:

The cost of these, being one off's, hand polished and chromed, is a little on the steep side for my liking, but now I am happy withe the fitment I am sure some could be reproduced in polished alloy with a coat of lacquer at a more reasonable cost. Would anyone else be interested? The more that are made the cheaper per unit they would be...

Head light trims

Hi Chris , Yes i definitely would be interested in a pair of those trims, hope you get the interest ; to bring price down. Must say they do look gooooooood :icon_razz:

Would it be possible cost-wise to have them made in stainless steel Chris?

Then they would not need lacquer, they would polish up like chrome.

I may eventually want some for my headlight covers too.

Trims

I must say the SS option sounds good, I presume the same could also be used on the amz? could be laser cut then bent?

If they fit mine then I will have a couple (depending on price). And a spare Perspex cover if you have one.
