Help please, with modern wiring colours.

Help :doubt: !
I’ve just purchased a new mains cable to apply power to my new garage. It’s got new colours; Brown, Grey and Black :eusa_doh: .

Can anybody tell me which is which? I’m from the Brown (live), Blue (neutral) and Green/Yellow (earth) school :eusa_dance: .

Den  .

Den, it seems that you didn't pay attention at the lessons that followed after the single phase stuff. :eusa_naughty:

Thanks Willy and Big Fella!

Emmm…. I asked for armoured 3 core cable  (and armoured 4 core too :doubt: ). Both are now 3 feet under my new block-paved drive with about a metre length poking through the concrete floor of my garage at one end and a similar length to be terminated to the mains connection at the front of my house :eusa_doh: at the other.

Have I got problems :eusa_eh: ?

Den (I couldn't find a 'bites fingernails' emoticon).

If it is the same in the UK as in Belgium you can't get approval for an earth wire that has other colours than green/yellow.

Can't see why it should be a problem as long as you follow what colour you are using to connect to your mains supply wires. If the colour of the sheaf is a problem then I'm sure the appropriate coloured tape bound over it would suffice for any inspection.

Of course this is just my logic and not anything to do with the new regs.
