Mx250 wing wobble

23 Aug 2014, 9:26am
Hi guys. My car has been on the road a while now :) but I am still getting a little wobble/shaking from the front wings!
I have re tightened the bolts in the engine bay and fitted some strengthing bars on the front corners . Has any body else come across this ?
Any ideas on how to solve it ?
Thanks

You can get some matting (not sure what its called) that is much thicker than csm. You just impregnate it with resin, that should make the panels a lot more rigid. All depends on your access to the back of the panels.

It's glass fibre roving that is available in different weights for reinforcing. Could also use woven g/f or paper rope well soaked in resin.

Kinda wish I knew about this before I fitted the front end !!

Doing it after the event... make sure you don't use too much hardener in the resin. If the panel getting reinforced gets too hot, the outer gel coat surface can deform. How do I know this???

I put some bracing in and used some expanding foam. worked a treat.
