Hi my exaust on robin hood seems very noisy for sva test,is there anything i can do to make it quieter. Cheers Dave

When we were road rallying in the 70's and 80's we used to push Brillo pads up the back pipe and drop a split pin through two pre drilled holes. Once clear of the noise check we would pull the split pin and let nature take it's course...

Perhaps that wouldn't fool an IVA inspector, but it might give you a clue...

you can get things called 'decibel reducers' that fit in the exhaust tail pipes. I've not used them so don't know how well they work?

Alternatively Jetex do a big range of silencers so maybe fit and extra one or two?

If you phone the SVA center or a track, you can get it tested for free. Well know definatley track if concerned.

I use the Jetex silencers for track days as won't pass some of the track day noise regs. Made them so they can easerly clip on. But not sure if iva guy would want to see a more permanent solution.

Long term, I'm going to get the silencer fixed.

The exhaust on my old Sammio Spyder was far too loud for normal road use and so i fitted one of these:

It certainly dropped the noise a bit and it was just bolt in!

EDHave used the Brillo pad trick myself when I was Road Rallying in my younger days. What a smell they made burning out and then filling the air with glowing fragments of wire.

Tack a washer down inside the exhaust, will reduce the noise, knock it out when test finished.
