Had been trying to think of how to do my filler cap as not a single flat surface to be had. After various ideas just happen to notice that the lid of the Isopon tin I was using to mix the resin was just a bit bigger than my filler cap. Anyway cut a hole in the wing then in the top of the lid, next slats in the lid, offered the lid to the wing then drew a profile round the lid. Bent the tabs and then fibre glassed in place and used filler to finish off. Thought this could be of help to anyone doing the same, cheap solution and does the job.
Lovely! Did you use a hole saw to cut the hole in the lid?
I did, but probably not the best idea. Couldn't really hold the lid in place securely and the hole saw I used wasn't for metal. Did it slowly and once it had gone through in a couple of places used small snippers to cut out, then smoothed the edges off with an electric file.
Just a thought I had been using the lid to mix resin so there was a layer left which may or may not be giving a bit of extra strength, left it in as I thought it a good seal.
