We have all sorts of interesting cars stop outside the workshop, but this one would have been nice to "borrow" for a while and spill some resin and matting on. The owner was a very interesting American guy who had stopped to look at the 250SWB (still waiting collection to go to Germany). He told me a great story about a garage in his home town, back in the 1970's when he was a teenager, having a damaged 250 SWB out the back in their yard, which at the time wasn't worth very much but he still couldn't persuade his parents to by it for him!! He seems to have done OK for himself despite that:
Db6. Think gonna try a Ferrari/Maserati/zagato mix see which parts work. Quite a fan of the Maserati a6g 54 and the Ferrari gte 2+2. The donor couldn't quite pull off the lines of the db 4 z . So thought keep it in the family of Italian style. So bit like the swb but a different grill with a side window and the light area at the back extends the lines to a more sharper finish.
The a6g is the black car in the alternative build. Has a nice flow to it on the rear view pic as well. Has an air of Aston as well with the extended light cluster and the door line is softened as it gets to the doors. I've bought some different wheels this time with higher profile tyres so can see how it affects the proportions next time i visit and hope be able to lock in a new design that suits the donors proportions
I would say the build isn't far off its a case of linking the lines and finishing the detail with a period look. Trying to find parts that are in keeping with the period were quite hard as im fussy. So period custom is probably how its going to look.
