Just wondering what you all do to get your car's painted?
Is there anyone that can reccommend respray places near the Midlands that specialise in fiberglass spraying at a decent price?

They are a father son businessand turn out some amazing finishes, I have seen work on fibreglass before with great results. I know that they will tailor the price depending in the level of finish you want - just coverage, good or show quality.
If you fancy doing it yourself you can hire the booth, from memory it was £180 for the day. If they are about they'll give you some pointers etc too.
Yeah I had thought about doing it myself but obviously the space to do it was an issue, but also thought that the pros may get a better result too.
Did you spray in cellulose or modern paint? Did you use etch primer?
I used a coat of etch primer followed by two coats of high build primer, lots of elbow grease to smooth the high build primer then five or six coats of cellulose. Another big helping of elbow grease to wet'n'dry the topcoat then Farecla G3 cutting compound and a final polish.
they recommended using etch primer first so that was extra, but I managed to do the whole job for about £400 including the compressor and a couple of spray guns.
If you do go down the DIY route make sure the high build primer you use is compatible with etch primer, i used Upol Reface which is not, this info can be found in the technical information sheet usually online.
A local shop to me recommended i use a plastic primer first then the high build but i suppose as the saying goes "There are Many Ways to Skin a Cat".
I have only painted metal this will be my first foray into fibreglass, so I am too keen to learn. I would say the finish is harder but water based is a safe option as it is less if not guaranteed not to react with anything beneath. At this point I will be using 2k with an out of the gun finish. Reality might be different though...
