What a nice looking car- must be good to be able to splash out on an interior trim like that. What have they done for a headlining?
That wheel deal was very reasonable at £500 per corner.
I do take issue with the "factory built" comments- if any of us took the contents of our garages to a commercial unit and worked there instead- we'd be factories wouldn't we? And we all have expertise in a particular field that would produce a professional looking result- be it mechanical, electrical, bodywork, trimming etc.
Personally I would have chosen a later, lower mileage donor on which to expend that outlay.
I agree with you there Ian, "factories" do tend to look down on "homemade" as being inferior, which as we all know is not always the case, and in some cases, is really far from it!
Of course, it is a nice looking car. but with all that cash spent on it, it would be wouldn't it?

as much as it is nice a tan leather interior woul dhave been nicer with the fly giallo paintwork

That was the bit I was looking for.
It's probably why I didn't register "roof remains open with the roll cage on display" but I did register "full interior re-trim on this car cost over £6,000 alone." I would have expected a headlining for that money. And a V6 engine.
Probably not possible to get a straight 6 that's lighter than the existing 4cylinder, and that will fit under the bonnet straight onto the existing gearbox.
Or were you thinking of a 3litre Nissan diesel per the popular Landie conversion??? Would need a bonnet bulge.
Hahaha i like the fact that all the photos are photoshopped and that the owner employed an expert journolist to write the advert. I think its fantastic!
It looks like a good quality build . If I were to have a set of wheels made I don't think I would be happy with this look though. They look a little small and they don't fill the arches at all. I like the plan view of the car looking down , shows off the shape from angle you wouldn't normally see.
Good luck selling at that price though , I would have said around £10k
I dont think anyone believes that them wheels where special made for that car as he goes on to say it has correct wheel adaptors or somthing of the like. Its a good write up for somone to read who hasnt owned a kit car before and knows nothing. To the users of this site, its clearly laughable. But he does sound like a good salesman
I would have thought for that money I would have expected them to at least put the screw covers on the dashboard side panel back on! It does look good in yellow though...
Just had another look at the pics.
The attention to detail (notwithstanding the dash fittings, headlining-lack of, door handles-lack of and Mundano grille) is quite something. It shows what can be achieved with time, effort and cash using a grp shell on an existing platform.
Love the colour but I'll go 'no comment' on the interior (apart from saying I'm sure Liberace would've loved it).
I can't blame them for pitching it around the £20k mark, which only puts it up against mid spec Caterham sevens in the marketplace. I personally think a lot of these cars get undersold. Before deciding on a price just stand back and really look at what you've built...
To me there's something not quite right about the wheels too. I think it's because the hub centres stick out too far rather than being recessed like Borranis. They didn't need to be chromed either, although Borranis have chrome spokes the rim is alloy. The owner would've got a more authentic look by using the MWS Aston/AC/Morgan wires (see below), which come in at about £1,100 for a set of four including custom splined adaptors and three eared spinners as I recall. Looking at the wheels that are fitted though, the MWS ones would possibly foul the arches on the MX250. Worth checking though.

Personally, I think a key part of getting a good price for your car is using decent photos.
They don't need to be taken by a professional, but a nice (& uncluttered) background really helps the car stand out.
You could even add a black and white photo for extra drama.

Looking at all vast number of Tribute cars on the Useful Info thread, this is the first yellow one I've seen.
( I've love to see a SWB 250 done in this colour. )
It helps to have a drone in your toy box for those nice overheads.

This car did undergo one of our "basic" builds in the Tribute "Factory". Car stripped, kit on, bonnet and boot hung etc, before going back to the customer for paint and finishing.
I personally never look down on anyone else's car that has any sort of time and effort put into it. I wish I had the time to produce a finished car to this standard. And I wish I had time to work on my own cars......
Chris, im not looking down on anyone, as im sure nobody else is. I think its great the way the owner has advertised the car and i wish him every luck in selling it. After the demo swb and now this, i think everyone has under priced their tribute....
Looks good to me, personally I think the wire wheels look great on it and the bodywork looks superb. Interior maybe a bit red but lets be honest you wouldn't drive one of these to try and shrink into the background. the only negative points are the lack of headlining and that bloody awful Mondeo grill.
Hope he gets the asking price.
I thought £20k was a bit strong but £30k is just taking the piss. It's a high mileage 1.8 mx5 wrapped in fibreglass!!!! No disrespect to anybody, but think what cars you can buy with £30k. It may turn a few heads but it's bright yellow, a Morris Minor that colour would turn a few heads.
Yes the price is too high , its been relisted in auction format with reserve and up to £5k so far. Be interesting to see where it goes but I can't see it going much over £10k, and "reserve not met" !
Its "only" an MX5 with a body kit , true but that's missing the point ! Any kit car is a pile of bits until you build it. looks at all the Cobra kits based on a Cortina or Sierra ie the Sumo, all of which change hands now for over £20k
