Looks like a nice clean build - the video is a bit spacey though.
This is not a criticism of the builder but I cannot help thinking that a 1.9 is not the way to go with a Kobra. If I ever get round to making one it will have to have a straight 6 in it. Oh and just to annoy people an auto box.
I will do it in a shocking paint job though (colour not quality) - I hope!

Just thinking out loud - has anyone ever used 15" halibrand style wheels on one of these - just wondered how it would affect looks. Looks a nice build.

Looks like a really good quality build. Even the red interior works !
1.9 engine wasn't the best choice imo but I'm sure it will find a buyer.
I can't believe what the old Pilgrim Sumo cars are going for, nothing under £15k. That's on an old Ford Sierra or Cortina base too!

I think because driving a Z3 is nothing remotely like driving a cobra.
It's not only about the looks but the driving experience. The Sumo is not a bad handling car and can be made to look almost exact if you want to put the work in plus it has the V8 noise and grunt.
The top half of your body is exposed in a cobra, yes you're strapped in but you feel vunerable. I remember the first time I went out in my mates RAM 351cu Cobra - pure adrenaline rush. You get totally battered by the wind (and have ear ache in your right ear after a decent trip) - it's all a bit fire and brimstone - like a lairy roller coaster ride. Stuck in traffic the heat soak coming through the tunnel used to cook your right leg in the passenger seat. Rightly or wrongly that's what people will pay for - the looks and the thrill.
Quick summary: you feel safe in a Kobra, you don't feel safe in a cobra!
That Kobra is a really nice looking car - and tbh, I'd rather be in that than a cobra in the unfortunate event of an accident!

I think the main difference between a kobra and a cobra is that a kobra is an every day driving car, and a cobra is for a warm weekend drive and you dont get many of them in the uk.

I built a dax cobra many years ago and once it was built I hardly drove it. It looked nice in my garage and sounded great but the days that were suitable to drive it were few and far between. I doubt very much I will have another. But I do miss it

Danny I think you're spot on - reliable daily with exotic looks. kobra easily used as daily drive. I'd never have used my old AK cobra daily - I would've looked like I nicked the hulks left leg! Clutch was ridiculously heavy! I remember getting leg shakes in Arnage traffic!

I built a Brightwheel Viper and a KD 289. Both were great to drive in ideal conditions . Sold both to the Germans back in the 90's ! I have fond memories but I wouldn't build another . They took ages and cost a fortune ( to me at the time ).
I hope to build a 250 SWB Coupe. It has more appeal these days. Quick and easy build , affordable and useable for most of the time. And its got the looks !
