pantograph wiper arm

I am an machinist toolmaker by trade and certainly no car mechanic. I enjoy reading all the posts here, especially the ingenuitive and creative approach to concealing some aspects of the donor vehicle.

So thinking outside the box, my question is this........ how difficult would it be to move a wiper motor to a more central position and use a single pantograph wiper arm?

I don't know, but if you crack it then I would appreciate a quotation because that is Cool with a capital 'C' :thumb:

I think so too. :icon_cool: I do wonder if Seanick has contemplated the idea because this type of wiper arm is extensively used on boats and have adjustable sweep.

It depends on the width/height ratio whether it is beneficial or detrimental ie. a single wiper may not clear much of the screen.

yes, I can understand that. The pantograph would keep the blade vertical, and sweep horizontally. I was going by the photograph I posted of the Alpha Romeo Giulia, My assumption was that the blade in the photograph is at rest position and would move the equivalent distance to the other side fo the windscreen

Looking at the photo again, maybe the driver can't see his bullet wing mirrors in the rain. Surely not a problem for a lot of Tribute owners. :badgrin: :peep:

I bought one of these for my MX but couldn't get it to work. However, I think the problem was more my lack of engineering skills as the sweep of the wiper can be adjusted by shortening the piece which fits to the arm attached to the motor. I shortened mine too much and the wiper drop off the end of the screen.

You need to calculate the length of the piece which connects the arm to the spigot to get the right movement.
