Hi,

I have recently joined your forum and so I thought that I would introduce myself.

I'm the wrong side of 60, tall and not alot of hair. I live in Swindon and I'm an aircraft electrical technician by trade. I used to be a keen motorcyclist but gave it up about 6 years ago after a "tumble". So I sold both my motorbikes (sob !) and bought a JBA Falcon which I have only just sold. I fancied something a bit more sporty and that had more modern mechanics ie. brakes that actually stop and power steering.

On Saturday I bought a Kobra from a guy called Steve in Devon who had owned it since it was built. He told me that Chris from Tribute Automotive fitted the panels and then he finished it off.
It was number 10 of the Kobra kits produced and is used on the Tribute website as an example of the marque.

I look forward to meeting some of you in the future and having a chat.

Dave

Welcome Steve

Nice wheels! That is an unusual Kobra with the side-pipes - enjoy it !

Thanks Dave but my name's Dave. lol !

I live not too far away from you so expect we'll meet up sometime. I used to live in Bracknell and before that Woodley.

Oh yeah - sorry Dave (I read steve in the body of your text as I posted)

You can't get the staff....

It sounds like Only Fools & Horses - "Eh Dave why does everyone call you Steve ?"

Do you know anyone looking for a donor Z3 ? Seen a 2.8 going cheap near Swindon. It's got panel damage and no seats but drives - only 795 or offers.

Welcome to the forum, Stevein Devon, and congratulations on your official name change ! Now you're well set apart - nearly everyone here's named Dave, except for Dave, of course.

I can't keep up with this. now I find your name is Stevein Devon!

Welcome to the forum, you've got a great looking car there.

I ha d a look at some of the Cobras on Monday at Stoneleigh and it brought home just what an excellent choice the Tribute Kobra is, especially when it started with the heavy rain.

Cheers, Bob.

Thanks for the welcome (and of course my name change)

I would have liked to build a car myself but haven't got enough room. I might eventually change some of the interior but for now just going to enjoy driving it.

The 6 cylinder Beemer engine certainly puls well and remids me of when I had my 323 E46 with that useful third gear.

Just sorting out the agreed value with my insurance and got to take photos for them including one of the engine bay. Not sure what they'll say about the K&N cone filter. If they want excessively higher premium then might try and get hold of stock airbox.

Cheers, Dave AKA Stevein Devon, Rodney etc, etc

Hi Dave, if your insurer causes you problems over the air filter try 'A' plan, they actually understand specialist vehicles.

Nice looking Kobra btw, enjoy!

AMC Biker - Welcome Dave.

I always liked this photo of your car with the hard top fitted.

Good luck, Paul. :)

I didn't get the hardtop with the car but not too bothered really. Limited space for storing it when not in use.

Thanks for the heads up on the insurance. I'll see what Adrian Flux say about it.

Cheers Dave

Now I don't know who I am !

Trying to come up with a name for my Kobra.
I used to work with a guy called Al Chappell whose initials are of course AC (AC Cobra) So you can call it AL.

Dave AKA anyname apart from Griselda

Hi - and as the newest member of the owners club can I say how good of you to move Swindon into Devon. I always thought it didn't really suit Wiltshire.
4 May 2016, 9:09am
Your'e probably right there.

There is another Marlborough In Devon so why not !

Not so sure about moving the "magic roundabout" though, as it's not everyone's cup of tea.

For the benefit of any American cousins reading this who aren't familiar with the 'Only Fools and Horses' characters Rodney and Trigger, here's the route of the whole Rodney/Dave thing -

Much too obvious - "yes really" is nothing more than a three-name anagram: "Sly Ray Lee."
