Anyone got a spare window motor and wiring plugs left over from their build going spare?
I'm still struggling to sort out a bodge to enable me to lower the drivers window in case I get locked out again. I still can't locate my Haynes manual for the wiring diagram.
There is a heavy black with white tracer and a heavy purple with white tracer going to the motor, I suspect one is power for raising and one for lowering the window. There also seems to be a couple of smaller connectors with thinner wires.
If I connect the thicker wires to a power source and to the door connector (so there is no power going to the motor from the car circuit) the window will raise and lower. If I connect the door plug and tap into the same 2 wires it works but doesn't seem happy. If I connect these two wires direct to the battery with the terminals off the window won't work. I suspect I'm missing an earth.
Anyone good with electrics who can suggest a solution?
I dare not lock the car now until I have a solution.
I had fitted a cable to the solenoid, this seemed to work well as an emergency release. However it didn't work when my remote failed. My daughter crawled in though the back window and still the door wouldn't open when she pulled the door catch from the inside. It would only open when the key had been inserted into the ignition. I think being able to lower the window to gain access is the only way.
The door lock are operated by electric solenoid. Of you open the window you can reach in and push down the lock button on the door to lock and do the same to unlock. If however you lock the car with the remote that also sets the alarm and immobiliser you cannot open the car again unless you unlock it with the remote or put the key in the ignition.

The thick wires are power to the motor, if you connect them one way to the battery the window goes up, flip the plus and minus and it goes the other way. I suspect the little wires are motor speed sensors to signal the reverse instruction should you get your fingers trapped and the canbus control.
If you use a pair of wires directly from the battery you should be able to power the window down or up depending on the polarity of how you connect it.
I have a bit of a concern about how that intervention would affect the body control module and canbus if everything is all plugged in though.
If you still want to go down that route, i would suggest a couple of switch controlled relays to isolate the car wiring then another switch to fire the window down.
I have run the two heavy wires to the boot and intend to only connect them to the battery with the battery terminals removed. Do you think this would cause a problem?
