Hi there.

Can anyone tell me where all the wires go from the engine harness plug?

I've looked at the Diakom.ru site (which was helpful) but I can't seem to find this connector mentioned.

There must be a wiring diagram for it somewhere.

I have ordered a Sportster based on a E36 and i'm in the process of doing all the bits up.

I can't seem to find the page with the plug on it.

I will need to connect the engine harness up to the Marlin wiring loom and I am hoping that someone has the pin positions for the plug that connects the engine side to the body side up.

How have you done yours?

Have you;
By-passed the connector?
Used the BMW loom?
Made your own loom?

I am so looking forward to this build. Just 2-4 weeks to go.

My brothers going to be doing most of the wiring, but so far (our is an E30/M20) we've used the engine loom & the lucas loom supplied by Marlin.

Took the outer plastic off the engine loom to re-route a few bits and replace the alternator -> starter -> battery cabling with newer thicker stuff.

Chopped the engine to car loom plug off the donor loom and when from there using technical drawings I found on [url]www.e30zone.co.uk[/url] -> probably not much good for your donor unfortunately. Perhaps someone at http://forum.evotechnik.net/ could help.

Robin used the car loom from the donor keeping the fuse box, but stipped out all the bits he didnt need. I'm starting to think we should have done it that way too.

That is a much better wiring diagram than I had.

On page 570 it shows the plug I am looking for and the pin locations but not what they are connected to.

I will have a look at the diagrams in more detail over coffee and see if they help.

I also thought that I would use the original wiring loom from the donor and started stripping out the bits that were not needed but thought that it would still a lot of modifying to make it fit, also whatever BMW use as a wrapping is very sticky and would look a mess.
I have since written that idea off.

no problem.

Get some latex gloves before your start unwrapping that black stuff, it really is not very nice! Its quite easy to get off once you get going though.

Wiring Loom

I used the original wiring loom. You can see some pictures on my web site http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/martinclan/ Its quite easy to strip off the wrapping (although labourious) I cleaned of the goo left behind with meths.
