275GT build no6

22 Jul 2019, 11:20am
Hi all here I go again waiting on the guy to come back off holiday to paint my 250swb so started a 275GT well why not. love the shape of the 275 just a bigger gto and thats the one car I miss. going to be a slowish build this one as its a keeper for a while . spent some of the weekend building up the front end light and indicator pods fitted. bumpers on but one side is snug one has a gap so I am thinking of blending them in.

the side vents caused me some serious thinking holding everything in place till it drys so I came up with this. good job the stuff I use sets in ten mins

made a change to the dash I want a glovebox so lost one of the pods. I am a bit limited to how much I can do to it at the mo till I get a car to put it in.

Good luck fella, will enjoy keeping an eye on your progress. I better get my wriggle on! Be a gorgeous addition to your stable.....

Andy – It was about this time last year that I saw Kidge’s 275 in person.

It really is a lovely shape, so I look forward to seeing your latest build come together.

Good luck, Paul. :)

PS
Perhaps this thread should be in the Old No.7 Builds sub-forum where the other 275s are?
( I am sure this is something JG could do for you. )

managed to get both the front bumpers snug by cutting the back bracket off trimming it down and re bonding it back on while holding it in place on the car sounds easy but believe me it was not.
20190728_143241.jpg

back bumper when bolted together did not sit right but in parts sat pretty good.so I bolted it to the car in parts and glassed the comers and along the back of the car so I can take it off make good and trim all the gaps latter.
20190729_184209.jpg

back lights were for an other project a long time ago just so happens they fit the recces so for now I am going to run with these see if they grow on me

This is looking good!!

I am considering the idea of getting the 275 rear shell and 250 SWB front shell; throwing in some tweaks and making a 250 GT Lusso tribute.

Gotta get my SWB done first! (And buy in from the wife)

Cant wait to see the finished result! Cheers

Awesome stuff Andy,

I know you will do this kit proud, just like the others prior. Look forward to seeing it progress, might keep me on track with mine with you chasing me!

Well we did not go to the van this weekend so car time , typical of me spending 2 days getting the bumpers to sit and look good they are now coming off the car after seeing this.

I need to think about ware to put a side repeater if at all you can now see the front ones from the side view. Yellow headlight bulbs on order ,black wire wheels going on next week..

plan is very dark gray metallic with an off white light gray stripe, shame about the dash its tan colour and would look well with the choice but its all coming out

Are you going to pie cut the rear wings to suit?
27 Sep 2019, 6:57am
at the mo dont think so but I am doing everything two or three times fit it dont like it so change it. Got a new grill on order this will be my 3rd and hopefully the last change to the bonnet grill. fitted the back lights did not like them so then cut them out to fit the fiat ones 160 quid wow, I will get there. Bought a dash for it but the one in the car is light tan it fits in well with the style but so will the new one when its trimed up but thats a lot of work to sort and something that will only get changed the once honest . unlike everything else lol
29 Sep 2019, 7:58pm
quick update backlight pods glassed in and fitted
20190929_163917.jpg

new grill araived and fitted looking at it from the front the spotlight on the left needs turning inwards ,so that will be the next job to cut it out and move it.
not to sure about the shape of the end of the bonnet with the new grill. I need a pair of grills to go each side of the main grill to break it up

it may be the answer to just cut out the sides of the grill to match the car above. one to think about for a few days either way the angle grinder will be out soon :juggle:
30 Sep 2019, 12:47pm
Andy is this a real time build with you posting as you progress? If so that's bloody impressive....expect to see it in for paint by the end of the week!
30 Sep 2019, 2:20pm
think I am around 4 days in so far, if it was not for chopping a changing it would be on the road. But thats down to Mr tribute and team in kit design plus after doing so many its like clock work that helps :icon_lol:

Just started my 275 Convertible project. I'm allowing 4 weeks at a relaxed pace to get the body fitted and ready for paint. My donor car was stripped and prepped well in advance but that's easy, only a couple of days.
30 Sep 2019, 6:00pm
you should be sweet with a convertible they are a much easier build compared to the hard tops and a very quick build . good luck with it
5 Oct 2019, 5:14pm
quick update on today's work after measuring 10 times I worked out the grill was an inch to one side so that has been pulled out and glassed back in and the slots have been roughed in each side of the grill,
20191005_172407.jpg

thought it would look good with an air scoop so a bit of card and tape latter came up with this

20191005_125955.jpg

I glassed over it then when it was dry pulled it of cut it down and glassed it back on minus the cardboard

hopefully this should be the last sanding down so I will put a bit of primer on to see how it looks

20191005_172434.jpg

Managed pick up a 2.8 1997 local to me for a change well that can only mean one thing next kit ordered just don't tell the wife

I wasn't going to put vents in the rear end but things change lol, I will see how it looks as things progress it can always be filled back in the beauty of fiberglass

20191006_165748.jpg
6 Oct 2019, 5:11pm
Looking forward to seeing the final result on this one. I think the rear grill vents will add to the final race inspired version you are building.
16 Oct 2019, 12:53pm
quick update spent most of the weekend removing the dash ready to fit the new one .there is a lot of work in making up the dash the old top under the window screen needs to cutting off the old one and be bonded onto the new one to keep the air vents. also the sides where the dash bolts onto the body also need cut off and bonded on.
this is a pic is not the best but its of the underside of the new dash with the old vent boneded on

20191013_153119.jpg

20191013_131104.jpg

trial fitting of new dash still loads to do i've filled the middle in with a bit of spare fiberglass

20191016_121748.jpg

I have taken a mould off the top so I can pad it and cover it in leather then stick it back on when the dash is covered. not pretty but it will do the job when its cut down
20191014_132239.jpg

this stuff is my savior setts in 5 to 10m mins expands setts like rock and can be sanded back what else do you need from a glue. just run out but 12 tubes on the way.

20190922_162935.jpg

bring on the weekend
21 Oct 2019, 12:49pm
dash vinyl wrap

spent 4 hours prepping the dash applied a heat proof glue then wood grain vinyl wrap stood back and looked at it bleeding horrible so off it come again.
20191019_140049.jpg

striped it again primed and painted satin black if I change the colour again it will be while it's in the car its a pain in the arse to remove and refit

20191019_172043.jpg

think I can live with it for now still work to do as always but its back in all working

20191020_150202.jpg

not 100% what to do with the carpet its tan colour I have got some black die that's a job for next weekend thou
